Steve Says:
early palette swatches for Super Hematoma skin color

Star Stuff

According to Carl Sagan, “The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.” While Super Hematoma is a game about Bruisers engaging in bloody brawls to brutally bash each other’s brains out… we actually want it to be a game that’s open to everyone.

I had to deal with some fumigation this week and so my productivity was much less than I’d hoped for, but I decided to sit down and start fleshing out (no pun intended) the color palette for the Bruisers. I’d really like to have a large number of options for people to customize their character. We’ll of course be limited by how much time I have available when it comes to adding variation to animation… however we want to have a variety of skin and hair colors to choose from in the game, and this at least should be an easy enough thing to allow.

Matt’s just started looking into how we’ll actually do the palette swaps, but in the meantime, you can see some of the first attempts at skin color in the Featured Image, and immediately above, some of the hair colors. With just the options above, there’s 390 color combinations! Hopefully this will help spice things up!
